How To Place a Button on Your Web Site

The form on the following page will generate the computer code you will copy and paste into your web pages to integrate the TourVote polling application into your web site. It's a good idea to have a few things ready before you start:

  1. The URL of the web site's main page - This let's us know where the votes are coming from. You might have TourVote buttons on any number of web pages of the site. We just need to know the address of the main page or "home page".

  2. The path to your logo image - You may place an image at the top of the voting window. This could be your site or band logo and it's probably a .GIF or a .JPG file which already appears on your web site. Windows users can find out the path (the URL or address) to the image by right-clicking on the image and choosing "Properties" from the drop-down list. Write down the path to that image. It is best if the image does not exceed 300 pixels in width and 100 pixels in height. However, the image you provide will be scaled automatically to fall within these limits for display in the voting window.

  3. Does the web site support the use of javascript? - Some sites - MP3.com is an example - allow artists to create web pages but do not support the use of javascript. Usually this is true on sites that use form-based editing to allow artists to manage their own web pages. If the site does not support javascript, the TourVote code generator will provide strictly HTML code for the placement of the button on your pages.

Dynamically-generated web pages - If you operate a site whose pages are generated dynamically from a database, contact us for tips and support.
